1. Welcome To The Block Party - the first track off the album has a 0:34 time spot, It’s a soft swanky instrumental with the sounds of different conversations behind the guitar strums. At the end of the prologue you can hear Priscilla sing, ‘Welcome To The Block Party”. Frankly I’m not a huge fan of when albums start out this way or end this way for that matter. However, I think it’s appropriate for this album and makes you wonder why kind of music you’ll hear through the next eleven tracks.
2. My Bar - This was the first to be released from the album making it the single. The song has garnered over 1,786,929 streams on Spotify alone at the time of this publication. Block starts the musical part of this album with a honky tonk breakup song. This is the first song I heard from Priscilla and I instantly fell in love with it.
3. Heels In Hand - This is an ode to a girls best friend - heels. It’s a really cool song with breakup like lyrics but it made me take a second listen. This song is truly relatable which girls will be blowing out their speakers too.
4. Like A Boy - You can really hear the emotion in Block’s voice with the performance of this song. I really like her take one a breakup song. As commercial as they are in the music industry, I think that every artist can and should offer something different in their own breakup songs.I really think Priscilla does a great job with this.
5. I Know A Girl - I was so excited when I saw Hillary Lindsay was featured on this track. The two female voices compliment each other perfectly. This song almost reminds me of an early Maddie & Tae song. I love the empowerment Block adds to her album with this song.
6. Ever Since You Left - This is definitely the dance at a bar song on the record. Though the lyrics are original I could have sworn I have heard this same beat in another country song - no offense to Block because I’ve heard the same melody used by different artists across genres. Good song but it doesn’t make the top five on my list.
7. Thick Thighs - This may just be the country version of All About That Bass, thoughts? But seriously this song is an anthem! Emily Kroll, Block and Sarah Jones were the writers of this song and girls everywhere will be thanking them for decades.
8. I Bet You Wanna Know - As much as I love this song I would have loved to hear more of Block’s sass in this song which I’m sure she gives with live performances but always imagine how a more sassier version of this song would be and maybe with louder vocals?
9. I’ve Gotten Good - This is a post breakup song and the lyrics perfectly rhyming in the chorus just make my lyric loving heart happy. Something about the lyrics in this song just make me nod my head and start smiling!
10. Wish You Were The Whiskey - I really wish this was a collaboration with Cole Swindell! Oh my gosh this is just a perfect duet song and I hope Block seizes the opportunity in the future.
11. Just About Over You - This is the only song on the album that doesn’t sound like a Priscilla song in a good way. I don’t know what it is but it sounds like a song that should be on another album of hers.
12. Peaked In High School - I love this song! I love the sass and the rawness here. I don’t necessarily love how this is the song the album ends on (even though it talks about the enormous career Block has ahead of her) but I would have loved to seen another song take this spot. Don’t get me wrong I adore this song but I would have liked to seen better placement.
Over all, “Welcome To The Block Party” is a terrific debut album and really grabs the listeners attention and expands her fan base by the song. You can listen to Block’s full album HERE.
